Tree Planting

As part of Yarang Llamisi (YLF)objectives of ‘help transform the community’, we decided to give back to Zambuk community of Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State Nigeria, by donating one hundred tree protectors to Zambuk Progressive Association (ZAPA youth wing), in celebration of World Environment Day on 5th June 2020. This special day dedicated to our planet was set up in 1972 by the United Nations to raise awareness of the environment and environmental issues we are currently experiencing all over the world. These environmental issues range from global warming to protection of wildlife, erosion to sustainable food production, water and land pollution to habitat destruction, and so on.

This year World Environment Day was hosted by Colombia and as always it was a day for environmental action. The one hundred tree protectors donation was part of the Tree Planting Campaign in Zambuk on World Environment Day, which tied in with the overall theme of World Environment Day – Biodiversity, which is a shortened form for biological and diversity.  The theme is all about the different types of life found here on Earth – animals, fungi, plants, and micro-organisms, as well as the communities and habitats they form and live in. The theme’s focus was on the role in providing the essential infrastructure that supports life on planet Earth and human development

Our donation of one hundred tree protectors to ZAPA youth wing will protect the newly planted trees from animals. The protectors will also help in accelerating the growth of the trees, for the benefit of the entire community. We enjoyed taking part in this Tree Planting Campaign in the Zambuk community for World Environment Day. Transforming the community is one of our key objectives at YLF and we are looking forward to working on more projects like this in the community.
